Am I a LASIK candidate?
LASIK is an FDA approved procedure that can reduce the need for glasses or contact lenses. Ideal LASIK candidates are over 18 years of age and had minimal change in their eyeglass prescription. In order to be eligible for LASIK a patient must also have sufficient corneal thickness and be nearsighted, farsighted, have an astigmatism, or a combination thereof.
A patient is not eligible for LASIK if they suffer from any disease, vision related or not, that may affect the effectiveness of the surgery or their ability to heal properly and quickly-for example, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and keratoconus.
